Cancer Diagnosis

There is new hope that in the future it will be easier to diagnose some cancers.

Researchers have found biomarkers that might help point to the presence of ovarian cancer tumors, and therefore might help in earlier diagnosis and treatment. Part of the problem with ovarian cancer is that it is often not found until it is too late. It would be great if we could have better diagnostic tools.

In related news, scientists at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine are developing a blood test that might lead to earlier detection of pancreatic cancer. Researchers apparently have identified ten biomarkers which give “a high level of accuracy and very few false positive results.” That’s good news.

It is good to know that scientists, doctors, and researchers are working to find cures for these diseases. It is also good to know that they seem to be making progress.
