Kale is supposed to be a really good food to eat, according to this article. However there is something to worry about with regard to Kale. It contains substances called goitrogens that can interfere with thyroid function. That is news to me, and probably to a lot of other people as well. This article has a lot about Kale, the good and the bad. This article discusses goitrogens and tells you where they are found – in foods like broccoli, spinach, strawberries, peanuts, and peaches apparently. I am very surprised. The article does say, however, that these foods may not cause problems if you don’t already have a thyroid problem. This article talks about what to do if you are currently taking thyroid medication. Talk to your doctor if you have concerns.
